MLB misc.

Just a few articles this time, but I thought that I'd send them before they start piling up. The first is an article about the Bible study that the Tigers have on the road, which includes Nate Robertson, Todd Jones, Mike Maroth, and Jason Grilli. The article includes a link to the Home Plate Christian outreach held before the Tigers game yesterday (http://www.homeplateoutreaches.com/) It included the above players and Marcus Thames, Sean Casey, coach Andy Van Slyke, broadcasters Jim Price and Rod Allen, and former Tiger Frank Tanana. Here's the article: http://www.bpsports.net/bpsports.asp?ID=5564.

Next, an article about the A's Nick Swisher and why he has long hair. Also, how a Bay Area sports talk show caller learned why to not judge a book by its cover. Here's the article:

Also, here's an article about Brewers manager Ned Yost, a Christian, tripping on a sidewalk and breaking his collarbone. He's still managing through it though. Here's the article:

Lastly, a note about Cubs relief pitcher Scott Eyre. He had been struggling lately, but wanted to pitch in the game on Tuesday to get another chance to turn things around. He did. Here's what he had to say about what he was thinking before he started warming up during the game:

"The phone rang in the ninth inning, and I closed my eyes and said, 'Please, Lord, let me pitch right now,'" Eyre said. "Lester [Strode, bullpen coach] said my name, and I said, 'Yes, it worked.'"
