MLB misc. and Hill

The first article is about the some of the Padres players visiting a military hospital while playing the Nationals in Washington, D.C., including Christians Scott Linebrink and Josh Bard:

Goodwill trip
Seven Padres traveled to Bethesda Naval Hospital to visit Marines and soldiers injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It was the third straight year that Padres players had visited a military hospital while in Washington, D.C. Making the trip were Trevor Hoffman, Scott Linebrink, Doug Brocail, Josh Bard, Rob Bowen, Kevin Cameron and Justin Hampson.

“It is quite an eye-opener to hear about the bravery and see the ordeal these young men must endure as a sacrifice for the rest of us,” Brocail said.

Carrying pictures and souvenirs, the Padres in uniform were easy to spot as they entered the National Naval Medical Center. But they were not so recognizable when leaving.

Each Padres player gave his uniform top to a patient.
